Splendor of Creation Lyrics (Key C)

Antiphon:

Send forth your Spirit, O Lord,

That the face of the earth be renewed.

1. O my soul, a-rise and bless the Lord God,

O-Lord, in majesty,

En-robed with pow’r and e-ter- nal might.

2. You are clothed with splen-dor and with beau-ty

O-God, and heav’n-ly light

Is like a cloud that con-ceals your face.

3. You have built your pal-ace on the wa-ters,

On-wings of winds and fire,

You reign in heav’n, rule supreme on earth.

4. Like the winds you’r an-gels fly be-fore you,

As-fire and flame-ing light,

Your min-is-ters stand be-fore your throne.

5. For the earth you fixed on its foun-da-tions,

In-deed, it shall stand firm,

And not be moved for un-end-ing years.

6. On the earth the wa-ters spread their man-tle,

And seas filled all the land,

A-bove the earth stood the ris-ing flood.

7. When they heard on high Your voice of thun-der.

In fear they took to flight,

At Your re-proach, they dispersed and fled.

8. By Your word, there sprang up hills and mountains

On earth the dry land rose,

And in their place, rest-ed glens and vales.

9. Your com-mand set bounds on all the wa-ters,

And they shall not re-turn,

They may not pass limits You have set.

10. Tor-rents fill the valleys at Your or-der,

While streams and rivers flow,

Ref-resh the beasts: slake the thirst of man.
