Catholic Night Prayer in English [Full Version]
Here is Catholic Night Prayer in English. This prayer is recommended to be said by Catholic faithful in the night before going to bed.
V. From the depths I call to You Lord,
R. Lord listen to my cry for help
V. Listen compassionately
R. To my pleading!
V. If You never overlooked our sins,
R. Lord, could anyone survive
V. But you do forgive us;
R. And for that we revere you
V. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits for Him,
R. I rely on His promise
V. My soul relies on the Lord
R. More than a watchman on the coming of dawn
V. Let Israel rely on the Lord
R. As much as the watchman on the dawn!
V. For it is with the Lord that mercy is to be found,
R. And a generous redemption:
V. It is He who redeemed Israel
R. From all their sins.
V. Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord
R. And let perpetual light shine on them.
V. May they rest in peace
R. Amen.
V. O Lord hear our prayer,
R. And let my cry come to you
LET US PRAY
O God, the creator and redeemer of all the faithful. Grant to the soul(s) of your departed servant(s) the remission of all his/her (their) sins that through our prayers he/she (they) may obtain that pardon which he/she (they) have always desired.
To you, O Lord, we commend the soul of your servant (name). he/she is dead to this world. May he/she live to you. And whatever sins he/she may have committed in this life do You in Your most merciful goodness forgive. Lord Jesus You are the resurrection and the life. You comforted Martha and Mary on the death of their brother. Console now those who are sad at the death of (name) our brother/sister.
Holy Spirit of God, by Your power Jesus was raised to life again. We also look forward to the day of our own resurrection when we shall all be united once more with those we love in the unending happiness of heaven. We make these prayers in and through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns united to You by the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.
